ABSTRACT

One comes from two. This would be the general formula of genealogy. You need to be two to make a child. Procreation happens from the coming together of difference. Procreation stands at the intersection of the difference of the sexes and the difference of generations. It involves the other in all its forms; to the point of no longer knowing from whom we are descended. It could be a man other than the father. It could be a woman other than the mother, be it the woman who provided the egg or the one who bore the child. All these possible differences can become vertiginous.
