ABSTRACT

Women’s discontents with their creative capacities may be extensive and are not easily resolved, resulting as they do from such a multitude of historical, social, and psychic factors. Each woman will find her own way to negotiate through these to a place where she can be creative. However, there is a factor that, I believe, may be crucial to this successful negotiation, and that is the ability to acknowledge and use a capacity for aggression. The acceptance and understanding of the positive aspects of aggression can bring about a change in a woman’s self-experiencing, for by doing so she steps into uncharted territory.
