ABSTRACT
The desperate search by the sleeping princess demonstrates the search for the feminine that has been banished from consciousness, the reintegration of the Great Goddess exiled by the defensive patriarchal dynamic. The grail, a symbol of the container of abundance, inspiration and wisdom, offers the best expression of the symbol of the structuring feminine in the psyche of this new epoch. The legends from the Arthurian cycle and the numerous expressions of the search for the grail can be understood, symbolically, as the search for sacred knowledge. Thus the grail is the search to find oneself, expressing the dynamic of coniunctio, of marriage for love, joining together individuals to transform the relationship. Discovering the divine in the other, through relationships, is perhaps the greatest treasure obtained from the search for the grail. Thus the grail represents the greatest symbolic emergence of how the other, sought through the heart, can transform us.
