ABSTRACT

The 'Greatness' referred to in the hexagram is the power of stillness, of stopping, of awareness, and, further, the accumulated wisdom and guidance that we find in great teachers and thinkers, in literature and the arts. The 'Great' among us tend to say little, to use their influence or power infrequently but courageously. The greater our awareness of ourselves as creators, the greater must be our sense of responsibility towards what we choose to release into the world. The forms and energies of Life are infinite in their variety. For better or worse, consciously or unconsciously, we are active participants in the work of creation: every action, every choice we make, our words and thoughts have an effect, bringing something new into the world that then has a life of its own. The creative force of Life works through us, but we shape it, give it form and direction.
