ABSTRACT

The concepts of “possible” and “impossible” are often considered to be opposites whilst it would be much more accurate to counter “impossible” with “certain”: on an ideal continuum which goes from “impossible” to “certain”, it is the area in the middle which represents the “possible”. The concept of Possibility expressed is therefore closely linked to that of risk, it is the result of a tension between “certain” and “impossible” which the calculation of probabilities aims to deduce. Indeed, it is this very confrontation with the dimensions that makes it truly possible to move forward on a journey of transformation, or along an individuative path. During this journey, the ego, which believes itself to be all-powerfully central, should be in the presence of the Limit, which has appeared from the unconscious and its products, as well as from the outside world and accept its resizing.
