ABSTRACT

Tirupti Texknit Ltd (TT Ltd) created a system of structures for task performance. Thus, several structures co-existed in the organization. A distinct sentient structure also existed. Known as "counselling families", this structure was split off from the task multi-structure. All can be considered as connecting structures of the firm. Two major structures were observable in the organization and confirmed by employees' experiences: workgroups, of which there were three, consulting project teams, administrative support teams, and executive management team for Australia-New Zealand; and a hierarchy. To a large degree, the phenomenal and normative structures complemented each other, in that they helped an individual consultant to locate profitable service lines, helped to identify the individuals assigned to these, and then the hierarchy helped to identify the senior. The purpose of a counselling family was to provide a structure for an individual's career and professional development.
