ABSTRACT

Ethical dilemmas are a very real part of professional practice and the group is a good opportunity to try out some of the necessary thinking that ethical practice requires. Every group member can ask themselves about the impact that the group situation has upon them, and as they experience it in the group. Some personal reflecting brings to the surface links with other people and places, which can shed light upon the experience. Similarly, every group member can ask questions relating to the group processes involved. Personal learning is a creative process. The commentary, like the exercise, looks at each of the vignettes from a number of perspectives. The first takes the standpoint of another group member and looks at the possibilities for personal learning that the group situation can produce. The second looks at the situation from a group-as-a whole perspective.
