ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a psychological dimension to knowledge of the processes summed up under the general term of 'sexual life of women'. It refers to the sexual life of woman throughout the duration of her sexual maturity, i.e., from the beginning of puberty onwards. Special attention will be paid to the psychical reactions to the various acts of the reproductive function. In depth psychology understanding of mental processes in women has lagged behind that of the same processes in men. In particular, little analytic attention has been paid to the generative processes, though these form the centre point of the mental life of the sexually mature woman. I. Kant's saying that woman does not betray her secret still applies. The hidden contents of the male mind have obviously been more accessible to the male because of the closer kinship.
