ABSTRACT

Part II consists of three chapters dedicated to the subjects of formulating the nature of the transformational self and positioning it within a systems framework. In Chapter Three, I present the transformational self from a micro perspective and discuss the self concept and various ways to think about adolescent development in contemporary circumstances. In Chapter Four, I review the transformational self from a meso perspective and deal with the issue of positioning the transformational self within a pluralistic family attachment context that promotes differentiation. In Chapter Five, I approach the transformational self from the macro perspective. This involves comparing and contrasting the dominant self-system frameworks and locating a comfortable conceptual home for the transformational self.
