ABSTRACT

The basic structure of the Dialogue of Acknowledgement can be expanded to include a section on change in order to focus on the wish for change that is manifesting itself. A focus on change is an extremely useful tool in dialogue, since it can transform conflict into new ways of being with one another. The first half of the Dialogue of Acknowledgement and Change is the same as the dialogue that was described step by step on p. 168. After the first step, the dialogue takes the couple on an exploration with the objective of discovering the roots of their frustrations. Taken as a whole, the Dialogue of Acknowledgement and Change are efficient because they give us the opportunity to find out what triggers our frustrations. The established framework of the dialogue creates the necessary space where we can be ourselves and be aware of each other.
