ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts to answer the many questions aroused, in relation to the continuous metamorphosis of the three phases of Eve. Some might perhaps consider it naive to assume that women, once they achieve their lost identity, will one day be a constant source of edifying and permanent peace. Woman, eight thousand years more advanced than the woman of Genesis, is trying to find in the idealised image of man the identity she never previously attained within herself. Many years of domination have created in women a feeling of inferiority, an image of castration, and the envy of an unobtainable, idealised phallus. The woman has tenaciously pursued recognition and equality, reclaiming a lost identity she never demanded before. Pamphlets and posters by the thousand have filled squares and parks, in constant demonstrations by women’s liberation movements in many cities of the world, demanding that man restore to them an identity they believe he has purloined.
