ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author presents a case history of child Milton of 8 years old. He deals with the case of a boy who went home after the first therapeutic consultation with a developmental block removed. The various members of the household found themselves with a child who had been released and who could use them more freely, and they behaved differently towards the child. This therapeutic consultation illustrates the sort of work that is appropriate in child psychiatry. This is different from psycho-analysis and from prolonged and regular psychotherapy. There were unfavourable signs at the beginning of the consultation, restlessness indicating that the child had a great fear of deep feelings. Gradually by the technique employed the boy became able to gain confidence in the relationship and so to be able to play.
