ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author presents a case history of Mrs. X of 30 years old. She is mother of Anna, at age of 6. The author provides an illustration of an interview with a parent. There is no essential difference between an interview with a parent and an interview with a child except that with adults, as with older adolescents, it is unlikely that an interchange of drawings would be appropriate. As described in the preamble to the case-presentation, this interview led to a new opportunity for the child to be managed by the clinic team in the way that she really needed and in the way that we had long waited for. The mother had to be given time to gain the confidence in us that was necessary before she could make use of this kind of interview in which it was she herself who was the ill person of the couple.
