ABSTRACT

Symbolization is a constructive process in that it selects, organizes, and makes salient. The symbolization that provides the requisite mediation for corporeality must be regarded as a process of construction. The thematic organization of all the facts defines a clinical situation or a moment in the clinical process, such as the enactment of unconsciously maintained transference fantasies. Further conceptualizations or re-conceptualizations can be earned quite far. They may move through a series of transformations to higher levels of abstraction. They may shift to other dynamic aspects of some compromise formation. The plasticity of clinical facts must never be forgotten. If present clinical facts can be conceptualized adequately only by taking into account later as well as earlier conceptualizations of clinical facts.
