ABSTRACT
This chapter offers some typical modes bearing in mind that the clinical manifestations of a manifest psychosis are always preceded by a long period of preparation that has accompanied the patient since infancy. In the psychotic state, sexualization takes the form of an excited entrapment of the mind that seduces the patient, who submits to it in total passivity. In such cases, it is important to apprehend the sexualization promptly when it appears in the clinical material, to prevent it from becoming potentiated and transformed into a delusional state. The chapter presents an extended extract from the case history of a patient whose attraction to the psychotic state is very obvious in his communications and “dreams”, which for this reason are particularly useful for the purposes of observation and insight. In identifying with destructive figures, the psychotic nucleus proceeds along the lines described by H. Rosenfeld in relation to destructive narcissism.
