ABSTRACT

Once the decision to perform is made, the next step is to consider the nature of the audience who will see the show. The possibilities can be discussed in the group. There are three types of audience to be considered. The first is small and local. This audience is familiar with the performers and with the space, including, for example, other service users, another class and colleagues in the same agency. The second type is a small invited public. This audience includes known, familiar people from outside the agency, such as family members, friends and colleagues. Finally, there is the wider public. This audience includes anyone interested and attracted to the show by publicity or word of mouth.
