ABSTRACT

As an enactment draws to a close, the group leader looks for an appropriate moment to give the direction to “freeze”. With practice the participants will come to a point of stillness and the dramatic action will cease. The group leader invites them to close their eyes and announces that the enactment is now over and that it is time to return to the here and now. During a period of five seconds the group can prepare to let go of the imaginary roles and the imaginary context of the enactment. The group leader counts out loud and on reaching zero welcomes the group back to their familiar roles.
