ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses the challenge as a matter of healing the fragmented world and restoring a higher degree of health. It explains some of the distinctions that systems thinking makes from linear thinking, especially the way that effects can be causes and create dynamic loops which exhibit non-linear behaviour. The book introduces the idea of multiple time-like dimensions, of which the ticking of the clock is only one. It also addresses specifically as an approach to those important areas of life – provoked by hyperturbulence – in which our culture leads us to seek simplistic solutions to complex challenges. The book provides examples of practices that help cultivate this greater alertness to the range of information we have available right to make a difference.
