ABSTRACT

In most countries, liberalism and Marxism are mixed; in some countries Marxism dominates and in other countries liberalism dominates. As a context for the discussion of anarchism, it is essential to refer to liberalism and Marxism. Political philosophy operates on different levels of generality and abstraction, from the concrete and specific recommendations for policy and economy to abstract discussions aimed at a global interpretation of political reality. The key principles in economic liberalism are free trade in domestic business and free trade between countries. Social liberalism was a reaction to the individualism of classical liberalism, which claimed that individuals alone had responsibility for their development and that society should only intervene to protect individuals against each other. Anarchism could have been placed under the liberal camp were it not for its commitment to society. Economy treats money and utility as identical measures, and connects material welfare with overall well-being.
