ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on the analysis of a series of social and demographic data drawn from a random sample of the entire African population of the town. It consists mainly of an account of certain aspects of social relations in one corner of the town. The book explains the relations between men were very directly affected by relations between the sexes. It analyses the salient features of the way in which men and women. The book utilizes the data gathered from a sample of the entire population. It describes the community as a whole and a further comparison of the neighbourhood studied in detail and other parts of the town. The book tries to bring the three sets of relations into a perspective appropriate to the study of the local African community.
