ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a series of ‘vignettes’, or external descriptions of work on developing integrated care and systems leadership in a variety of locations, with personal accounts of both individuals and groups – a series of ‘inside’ viewpoints. In 2014 the North West England NHS Leadership Academy offered its member organisations the opportunity to bid for a systems leadership grant of up to £20,000. One of the Collaborative Leadership in Practice sites in North Lanarkshire is a large group of about 20 people that includes health and social care managers for localities, clinical leads from health, cluster quality leads and General Practitioners. The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has a population with high levels of deprivation and historically poor outcomes, but a complicated acute health care landscape with a huge provider hospital facing very large financial pressures and multiple Clinical Commissioning Groups that need to be involved to address it.
