ABSTRACT

Functioning largely as an epilogue, this chapter explores the impact Danielle I. Szlawieniec-Haw’s research has had on her own acting work. She focuses on her portrayal of a serial killer in the film SCARS as a case study. Szlawieniec-Haw shares how her study supported her during filming, as well as how it changed how she approached the consequences she encountered. She shares what happened when the costs she was facing became overwhelming at one point in the production. Then, Szlawieniec-Haw reflects on her work in SCARS and the overall impact the production had on her. The chapter—and book—ends with a brief comment on the way Szlawieniec-Haw’s research has encouraged her to grow as an actor, scholar, and person, as well as what she hopes it will do in the future.
