ABSTRACT

As the world around us continues to degrade at an alarming rate, we are simultaneously suffering from too much design. Our continued preoccupation with private trivia in the face of public calamity exposes an extraordinary degree of self-deception. We simply refuse to acknowledge that these two phenomena are intimately related; two sides of the same coin. And while many might suggest that design is not such a significant player, when the results of its decisions are mass-produced over and over again and distributed globally, its cumulative effects become substantial.
