ABSTRACT

When a person makes contact for any kind of therapy, they merit a quick response from someone in the therapy service who is accessible and attentive. If it is clear at the outset that the person is actively seeking Single-Session Therapy (SST), the therapist should strike while the iron is hot and capitalise on the person's readiness to be seen by offering a time to talk about the SST service and others that the therapist or therapy service offer. When a person makes contact with a therapist, they are in one of two modes: enquirer or applicant. When a person is in the enquirer mode, they are searching around for the right approach and/or right therapist at a price that they can afford if in the private sector, but they have not come to any decision. It is a good idea sometimes for the therapist to outline what services are on offer which would include a thumbnail description of SST.
