ABSTRACT

In my experience, competent SST therapists are mindful of different ways that they can make SST more effective for their clients and will try out effective strategies that have their origin both inside and outside therapy. An example of the latter is research that has recently been reviewed concerning the positive impact that meaningful places have on our well-being as humans (National Trust, 2017). As the report notes, “the poet, W.H. Auden coined the word ‘Topophilia’ in 1948 to describe the way people experience a strong sense of place; often becoming mixed with their sense of identity and an underlying sense of belonging” (National Trust, 2017: 3).
