ABSTRACT

As the Single-Session Therapy (SST) the therapist and the client approach the end of their time together, the therapist needs to think about bringing the session to a conclusion. There needs to be a link between what has gone and what is yet to come which shows that the session is part of a process of change that started even before the therapist and the client met and will continue after the session has ended. At this point, many therapists will summarise the session for the client. A good summary should cover a statement of the client's problem and the problem-related goal and a review of the work that was done on the problem and/or towards the goal. It should also cover a clear statement of the solution and the strengths that the client can bring to effecting it as well as any resources they can make use of.
