ABSTRACT

There is a lot to get through in the face-to-face session. It is important for the therapist to suggest to the client that they give themself some time to reflect on the session. Some clients may wish to reflect in writing and others in thought. Sometimes, the recording and/or the transcript enable the client to focus on aspects of the process that seemed more important on review than they did at the time and, in particular, both contain accurate references to the summary that either the therapist made or the client provided themself. Clients who find the written word more instructive value the transcript, while others who learn better aurally by listening will listen to the recording on an mp3 player, smartphone or tablet. Clients who don't like listening to the sound of their own voice definitely prefer the transcript.
