ABSTRACT

The follow-up session normally takes place about three months after the single session. While some people in the single-session community think that a follow-up session violates the purity of Single-Session Therapy (SST), most think that a follow-up session is an important part of single-session work. A follow-up session provides an opportunity for the client to feedback on what they have done in the time between the face-to-face session and the follow-up session. It also provides the client with an opportunity to request more help if needed. A follow-up session gives the therapist with outcome evaluation data, (i.e. how the client has done) which will help the therapist improve their delivery of SST. It also gives the service the therapist works in with service evaluation data (what the client thought of the help provided). Such data will help the organisation to improve the service offered.
