ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the main topic of the book, which is the rise and fall of the current globalization process. Our reasons for writing yet another among the many books on globalization are as follows: (a) the epochal change currently under way in the world order that will affect the processes of global integration; (b) the increasingly evident backlash against globalization in many countries, particularly in the western hemisphere, with a consequent impact on domestic politics; (c) the connection between globalization, convergence of nations’ development and geopolitical revolution, with the rise of assertive revisionist powers through the process of global integration; (d) the consequent existence of multiple scenarios for the future of our present global world.
