ABSTRACT

The newfound ability of post-cogs to look forward in time, anticipate outcomes, plan a course of action, and then take that action to influence the outcome was a massive advantage. Post-cogs started to become masters of aspects of their environment rather than victims. Post-cogs became extremely attuned to their natural environment and built up a body of knowledge about the world, which helped them thrive. In post-cogs, exaptation of the "agency, cause, and effect" trait led to the "belief-in-the-supernatural' trait. It developed over time to become a powerful force in human evolution. Post-cogs were the product of the cognitive revolution. They had the same cognitive abilities as we do today. Post-cogs had the ability to cooperate in far larger numbers than the intra-cog communes of around 150 individuals. Communities grew larger and larger, ultimately to millions of individuals after enabled by the rise of agriculture.
