ABSTRACT

Developmental inequalities exist at every level of human political organization, but the crucial role of the nation state in the modern world makes the inequalities between these entities the most important. This chapter contains five series of maps; four trace the evolution of GDP and GDP per capita, and one shows the changes in human development. The series of maps for GDP and GDP per capita vary in both detail and time scale. These maps enable a multifaceted and multidisciplinary analysis of the international situation, including the composition and organization of the international community. They can form the basis for analyzing changes in both the political and the socio-economic order. The maps from each series drawn up for 1980 throw doubt on the accuracy and reliability of the Brandt Line.
