ABSTRACT
Chapter Two begins by exploring Summers’ use of the word “form” and then looks carefully at what he considered to be the “form” of Methodist liturgy. Next it examines ways in which Summers argued for the essentiality of freedom in Methodist worship. Chapter Two then argues that Summers envisioned a clear telos for Methodist worship, namely sanctification of the participant. Finally, the chapter concludes with a summation of Summers’ liturgical convictions for Methodists.
