ABSTRACT

The literature of city and regional planning is extensive, as are writings about the history, theory and practice of architecture and landscape architecture. Such related subjects as political science, sociology, environmental psychology, urban geography or real-estate economics have their own specialized literature. Anything like a complete bibliography for any one of these specialties would be overwhelming; keeping up with all of them is a full-time job. The following is a short list of readily available, readable books that are introductions to various aspects of city design and development. They will, in turn, refer the reader to many other possible sources.
