ABSTRACT

Whenever engaging an enemy in battle, if their troops are extremely numerous you should establish a vacuous form in order to cause them to segment their strategic power, for they will not dare not divide their soldiers in order to prepare for you. When the enemy's strategic power has been fragmented, their soldiers at any single point will invariably be few. Thus, if you concentrate your troops into a focused unit, they will naturally be more numerous at any chosen point. When you attack the few with the many, you will always be victorious. A tactical principle from the Art of War states: "Determine the enemy's disposition of force while we have no perceptible form."
