Whenever you emerge victorious after engaging an enemy in battle, you cannot become arrogant or lax but should undertake rigorous preparations night and day in order to await the enemy. Then, even if they launch another assault, since you are prepared no harm will result. A tactical principle from the Ssu-ma Fa states: "After a victory one should act as if victory had not been achieved."
