ABSTRACT

Whenever mobilizing an army and penetrating deep within an enemy's borders, if their walls are solid and they refuse to engage you in battle, wanting to fatigue you, you should segment and employ your regiments to attack their army. Pound their home base, cut off their routes of return, and sever their supply lines. When they reach the point that combat becomes unavoidable, you should strike them with your fiercest troops, for then they will be defeated. A tactical principle from the Art of War states: "If I want to engage 209in combat, even though the enemy has deep moats and high ramparts, he cannot avoid doing battle because I attack objectives he must rescue."
