ABSTRACT

As massive a system as that developed by the Nazis for the purpose of eradicating European Jewry could hardly have been kept secret for long. Try as they might, the Nazis could not have kept the murder of 6 million people from being discovered. Eventually some word would leak out to the free world. One might have thought that the Western Allies at war with Germany would have utilized all means at their disposal in order to end the massacres quickly and save at least a remnant of European Jewry. But Allied reactions to Jewish suffering and even to the wholesale murder of Jews at the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators was slow.
