ABSTRACT
This chapter is the first of seven that focus our attention on specific submodels of International Futures, each corresponding to an element of the world development system. All seven chapters comment briefly on some of the debates or uncertainties concerning global futures in the issue area, turn to a presentation of the core dynamics within the issue area and submodel, and then move to a discussion of scenario analysis with IFs.
