Feminist theory has been an important theoretical element in the development of the women's movement. Theories of racism have been a significant part of the construction of nonracist society. Deep ecologists claim they are developing a new perspective for critical theory, without disavowing existing viewpoints. There are, none the less, precedents in the development of other critical theories for the path taken by deep ecologists. Many theories have focused on one particular relationship and form of monopolization, even if it means failing to differentiate the groups involved according to other dimensions of domination. As far as the undifferentiated-dominant-group criticism is concerned, the analysis of the monopolization of biospheric resources by the present generation of humanity has developed with similar strengths and weaknesses as other critical theories. There have been many theories of a connection between the relations of domination, a connection that has been contingent upon broader patterns.
