ABSTRACT

This theme was true for three of the six participants. Kim, Shamika, and Edouine expressed this perspective on their partners’ support. On the one hand, they said that they wanted their partners’ involvement. They said they had hoped and expected that their partner would be supportive if they got pregnant. Once pregnant, they continued to want his involvement and would accept whatever support, emotional and/or financial, he is willing to provide. On the other hand, these participants said that, faced with the possibility of not having the partner’s support, they could do without it.
