ABSTRACT

We have told the stories of the cats and the apes to give point to our contention that a proper recognition of the rôle of insight in all learning can be of tremendous importance in suggesting a more helpful approach to actual problems of teaching technique, and in subsequent chapters an attempt will be made to show how this psychology of the learning process can be applied in the classroom with special reference to the teaching of dull children. However, before proceeding to this attempt, it will be as well to see a little more clearly what is meant by insight.
