ABSTRACT

This handbook is for students doing a master’s degree dissertation. It is to help students at every stage of the process. Included are lots of examples from actual master’s dissertations. Chapter 1 defines the dissertation and points out the differences between master’s course work assignments and the dissertation itself. It explains the purpose of a master’s dissertation and looks at time management in a master’s research project. Included is a useful template to help with time management. This self-help guide benefits from current research into academic literacies and genre that views expertise in writing as being informed by the context in which it occurs.
