ABSTRACT

The finale, the eighth and final chapter of this book, includes a comparative analysis of each executive's career narrative to identify and articulate key career advancers, barriers, and strategies that aspiring arts managers should remain aware of as they pursue executive careers in Arts Management. In my view, opera's ability to achieve access, diversity, equity, and inclusion depends on the leadership of its service arts organization, OPERA America. Although OPERA America has shown tremendous leadership in terms of some of its programming, I critically examine these efforts to identify potential blind spots in the work that need further attention. The final chapter also includes a vision with a call to action for how opera, and Arts Management, can proactively work towards achieving ADEI in its executive ranks.
