ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 examines the dominance of the visual in design pedagogy, and how this has impacted the ways in which designers perceive the world around them. It also describes the ways in which it is important to develop multisensorial literacy through site immersion, observation, and recording if designers want to create spaces that are mindful and inclusive.
