ABSTRACT

Linking familiar songs to new information help imprint information on young minds. Making use of music to help students learn and retain information in the science curriculum can produce excellent results. By combining a creative activity using words, poetry, and music with science, a complete learning unit could be developed including spelling words, reading, art, and design. Sound is produced by vibrations and sound waves. The study of music, the aural art, is a logical place to study sound. Some music describes things that we are familiar with, such as animals. Music can paint a picture in our minds of the way things move or the sound they make. Music helps students learn about science in extended ways.
