ABSTRACT
Late period easy listening of the 1970s – whilst weathering the decline of established groups and labels – splintered and spasmed into seemingly disconnected musics: rock orchestra projects, disco-funk sci-fi Afro-futurism, ambient and instrumental new age soundscapes, and sampled loops of 1990s space age bachelor pad retro lounge cocktail music. Throughout these manifestations, connections to earlier easy listening and film music remain.
