This chapter focuses on researching and writing essay answers. It takes you through how to dissect a question for success, how to undertake background research, and later, more in-depth scholarly research. It provides different approaches using your notes to help with essay planning to support you in developing an excellent evidence base from which you may develop a critically analytical essay as well as tips on redrafting paragraphs to increase the analysis and critical analysis, to develop your justifications making use of your evidence, and, consequently, to reduce the amount of descriptive material you have in each paragraph. It provides signposts to other relevant chapters on research, referencing, and polishing your work.
