ABSTRACT

Students can achieve a strong identity through careful planning. Before students rehearse together, before play their first performance, before they head into the recording studio, they need to collectively and individually consider their musical product. Students' brand image is how they are understood by their audiences and fans. Every single time they are interviewed, write a post on their blog or social media, talk with fans, play in public, or connect with anyone, they are establishing their brand image. Students' brand needs to be vibrant and engaging. No-one wants to go and see a boring singer or band. Students need to brand themself as an exciting and likeable performer. If students’re a performer they should know how to play their instrument to a certain degree. But they should also be able to perform in a way that communicates to an audience. Their brand needs to be professional.
