ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 lays out a format for developing a basic mindfulness practice by the individual working alone or outside of a university class environment utilizing the exercises introduced earlier in the book. It also emphasizes several key aspects of developing an ongoing practice such as Goal and Intention Setting and Basic Parameters (requirements and tools) necessary to support an ongoing practice of this nature. The rest of this chapter articulates a model for a beginning program of mindfulness practice that unfolds over a six-month timeframe.
