ABSTRACT

The objective of the medical society and peers is to provide a mechanism for timely reporting and treating of disruptive conduct and to ensure quality patient care by promoting a safe, cooperative, and professional health care environment. Documentation of disruptive conduct is crucial as that will be the basis of all investigation and needs to be detailed in case of legal action. The chief of staff, chief medical officer, or the physician leader should interview employers and get the facts straight within 72 hours. A support system needs to be built for the physician of a circle of people – colleagues and coworkers they can use when in trouble. The goal is to support the physician and to avoid possible avoidable sham peer reviews.
